Delores Martins' Letter of Introduction

Hello. My name is Dolores Martin and I have been teaching here in Costa Rica for the past 24 years. I grew up in PA in the States. During my senior year in college, one of my social work professors suggested that I do my last semester in Costa Rica. I came, met my husband who is Costa Rican and have been living here ever since. I have taught English to students from preschool up to high school, but mostly teach advanced students from 8th to 11th grades. I love the Costa Rican weather, nature, and people. They are all so very friendly. I have two children who are attending Costa Rican universities and who fill our house with all their friends. I have very little free time, because I also help out at a local church with the music team. I sing and play the violin. When I do find some free time, I like to read and work around the house and yard. We have a magnificent view of the Central Valley from our home with all the surrounding mountains. I’m also a Sudoko fan. My favorite place to go is to the Pacific beaches. Costa Rica has both Atlantic and Pacific beaches, with gorgeous mountains in between. The tropical climate and large amount of biodiversity is incredible. I am looking forward to participating in the Global Coalition and giving my students the opportunity to broaden their perspectives.
