Our students are from the Elkana School which is located in Elkana in
Samaria. Geographically we sit east of Petach Tikva and Tel Aviv. Elkana
is a community of about 800 families. The school is from 1st grade to 6th
grade. It is a religious state school which means that there is more of an
emphasis on Bible and bible-related studies. There are approximately 700
children in our school who come from the surrounding communities.
As part of the regular school curriculum the children start to learn English
in 3rd grade.
The group of children participating in the epals project are considered
native English speakers - meaning that they come from English speaking homes
or that they spent time in a school in an English speaking country. They
speak, understand and read English but their writing skills ( I hope ) will
improve when writing to you.
