Wearing "Hats for Haiti," BCMS students raise nearly $800 for earthquake relief in a single day

BCMS students raised upwards of $800 with a "Hats for Haiti" fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 12. Students wore all manor of creative hats, paying $1 or more for the privilege, to benefit earthquake relief efforts in the island nation.

In homeroom alone, the event raised $778.

The fundraiser was just one of several underway or recently completed at the school for Haiti relief. Other activities include: collections being taken at special events such as basketball games and productions of "The Music Man," and activities like bagel sales, a read-a-thon and bottle drive.

In addition, "Penny Wars" among the teams have resulted in more than $2,000 in donations.
